The Department takes various steps to create interest about the subject among the students. The teachers keep them updated in the subject by attending various seminars, workshops and refresher courses organized by different colleges and universities. There is a well stocked departmental library which provides necessary text and reference books to the students. Along with classroom teaching the students are given practical experience of working on the democratic governance of the country. For the purpose, the department takes various initiatives and organizes educational tours for its students. Tours have even being organized to give students exposure of visiting Block Development Officers office and Legislative Assembly of West Bengal during winter session.
