The Department of Biochemistry, one of the most vibrant and premiere biochemistry departments in Kolkata, was established in the year 2008. One of the commendable contributions of the department has been the creation and sustenance of a rigorous, dynamic and vibrant bachelor’s program in biochemistry that imparts conventional and new knowledge in an innovative manner, which ensures that fresh, young minds are trained and oriented to create newer knowledge in turn. The department has always been very productive in research. The faculty members of the department have contributed many book chapters and published research papers and review articles in several high impact peer-reviewed international journals. The department has hosted several national and international seminars and conferences. The department engenders perseverance and sincerity in all its students with all efforts made to deepen the practical knowledge of biochemistry and to develop a scientific temper. The atmosphere of the department encourages a healthy flow and exchange of ideas as per the curriculum. Our students have been performing quite well in the university examination and secured top ranks and already proved them as a good researcher in the scientific world.
